Hey guys new to the forums and a new street rider.

Im 19 years old and just got my firsy street bike its an 81 seca 550 has 14k miles on it. she needs a lil bit of work but nothing major. the good part is she runs and shes ridable.

I didnt pay anything for it i was getting out of motocrossing and traded my Rm125 for it(rm needed good bit of work) Guy said he couldnt get the seca running so i took it. Chraged up the battery sprayed some start fluid in the carbs cranked it over a few times and she fired right up.

Its not stock has 4-1 headers and been rejetted and has pod filters on the carbs.

Cant wait to get out there and ride

first things first, You need to change your oil and filter before you even take it for a spin around the block.
Welcome to the forum. And happy riding

You need to check your BACK BRAKE before you even ride it around the block... http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=15874.html This is important, it can wreck you.

Then get a service manual and go through the "maintenance" section item by item leaving nothing out.

Check the date codes on your tires; flush and replace all the brake fluid.

    THEN go riding- safely.

    Welcome aboard.

Check the rear brakes aren't falling apart(delaminating) you will need to take out the wheel.Test the front brakes at low speed, before you go for speed.
Search the forums for info, there's a ton of it there. From what you said, the carbs the carbs, a standard TO DO at the age of the machine. Good luck and g'day.

I just recently got the bike. Already changed all fluids and looked everything over.

As far as the starting fluid goes. The bike was sitting for a while wasnt started in idk how long. I dont need the fluid to start it now. But then again i havent tryed to start her for a while =/ its been to cold. PLus i drained all the gas out so there was none sitting in there to gum anything up

    Welcome to the site !!
In case you didn't know, you have Turbo 650 air shocks on there.
What's with the "super long" clutch cable?
I like the 5,000 Sq foot shop !!

Thats a pretty cool paint job.

if you spend some time washing and polishing, you'll have a really nice looking bike there

I wish that was my shop lol. As far as the shocks go i had no idea they are from a 650 turbo! They work well though and for the clutch cable I took care of that problem.

I may only be 19 but i know my way around bikes. Mainly dirt bikes though. I can Rebuilt the top end of a 2 stroke in less than and hour by myself. Not sure how good that is but i can do it.
