    The bike - 1987 XJ 900.

    I bought some LED indicators recently as well as a new electronic flasher unit. It has the right number of pins - 3. When I plug it in though, I get no light at all from the indicators. The std flasher unit has the fol letters - Centre = L, Left hand = C and right hand pin = B (this is looking at the pins face on)

    The new unit has the fol Centre = L, Left Hand = E, Right Hand = B.

    I presume the centre pin is the earth? What do I need to do to get it working please?

    What is the flasher make and model number?

    I used the Triton EL-12 2 prong electronic flasher. Pep boys $8.99. direct replacement. Matched the L to the L pin and it worked straight away.

    Thanks for the replies guys...sorry forgot to mention I live in OZ (must get that profile fixed!)

    I was hoping to modify the unit I have rather than buy another....

    Mt watson, here is the unit I bought

    The picture also shows the prong identification and voltages which may give potential posters a clue?

    Look at the Web Site for the Company called:

    Signal Dynamics

    They have a great many Products and solutions to Motorcycle Signal and Flashing situations.

    I got their Module called: Back-Off

    This module flashes a trio of Red LED Strips 5 Times before having them come-on Full ... each time the Break Lights come-on ... and as often and as quickly as you can work the lever to make the Break Lights flash.

    Try this wiring setup. Found elsewhere in another forum.
    The wire colors go to the prongs as follows:
    X ----> Br (brown)
    P ----> G/Y (yellow w/ green stripe)
    l -----> Br/W (brown w/ white stripe)

    Thanks Mr Watson but not sure how that helps? The letters X, P, and l are not meaningful to me....

    Can you elaborate on where those letters are found (looking down upon the three pins). I need to know the purpose of each wire...ie which is the earth etc....

    For the record B = battery, L = Load and E = Earth
