Why do I like these bikes so much?

I still fail to see the attraction in removing the front fender. One good puddle will either drown the motor or soak the rider or both; I guess if a faceful of spray every time it rains is a equitable trade, ok, but not to me.

Take a good look at some of the close-up pics; CRAFTSMEN these guys aren't. I believe the term would be "Bodgers."

A couple of decent pieces though.

That's fair. I agree, they aren't metal-working artists. But the appeal, I think, has more to do with the general aesthetic. There is a cheap, I-don't-give-a-shit, rattiness to these bikes and at the same time there are signs that the maker cares about how it looks. I think that's what I like - it's style on a budget.

Like Deus, I think you'll find there's nothing "budget' about these bikes.

Exactly. Which is another thing that put me off; they're using some really high-zoot components, you'd think they could give a bit more of a sh*t how they put them together.

I've seen a lot LOWER-budget bikes that were virtual works of art; there is a time and a place for CBE (Crude But Effective) but these guys are not artists. They could do a lot better with what they have.

Maybe it's about the go not the shine, Deus sure aren't cheap but I think they look better.

I agree wholeheartedly. Now THESE guys ARE artists; their work is meticulous and while I don't necessarily swoon over every one of their designs, you have to admire the workmanship.

This is what those other clowns should be aiming for... http://www.deus.com.au

I like their style, expensive bikes compared to result, but I would like to see what kind xj550 would come out after their mods...

I guess they're alright. The gothic look is kind of growing on me. A little repeticious.
The one thing I kept thinkin' though was "HEY HEY WE'RE THE MONKEES"!!

How could you not like this

The wrenchmonkees have been doing pretty well for themselves - I see their bikes being talked about on all sorts of forums. In general I like them, but some some of the bikes they start with seem odd - the kawaski twins and the old TX500 - who wants that pile?
