fork tubes

    Does anyone know how much are the forks suppose to stick out from the upper triple clamp on a1982 xj650rj? Thanks

    Yep, flush with the top clamp assembly. Some folks lower their bike by sliding the tubes up in the clamps. Not sure I'd recommend it but to each his own.

    One raises and lowers the For tube in theTees to adjust handling..That's why they are made that way :) Raising the tubes up increases turn in and 'responsiveness' Lowering them increases straight line stability.. Not huge changes but certainly noticeable. LOTS written on Bike setup.. everyone should be aware of the basics.. It really can improve one's Bike 'satisfaction'.

    Exposing my ignorance is too easy for you folks, I gotta get educated. Being a "bone stocker", I rarely have exposure to tinkering with the handling character of my machines. Kinda learn to adjust to each machines behavior, not make it fit me (too much anyway, I do set all my controls to my tastes). Never had need to crack a book on handling tweaks, mayhap I ought to.
