I made a YICS tool based on the info posted on this site and the XJ Monster link. It turned out even better than I could have imagined and works like a dream! The prototype I made could be easily improved upon with better materials, etc-it works great for occasional use but might be a little un-engineered for daily (read: professional) use. I could make some longevity/durability/engineering improvements if anyone here wanted to purchase one; otherwise I'll leave it alone-as my prototype, it should work just fine.
I would be willing to sell these for $25.00 + S&H for interested parties....

Here's the thing; if I had ten people interested, I'd do the research to improve it and maybe do a run of ten or twenty of them. Anyone else interested?

Nicely done! Looks professional. You should consider selling them on ebay, or maybe at a local dealership.

    OK-that's one! :D
Just for giggles and grins I'll do a little research (just in case!)
The eBay idea is good, too.
Anything else you guys need me to "engineer"?

Looks nice. Looks like one of mine.

Interestingly enough I just recently shipped one to someone in Illinois. That wouldn't happen to be you would it ?

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I am wondering if I should be flattered... :?

    The order form is here:

The research is done. The materials are right... the first time.

No, but I did view yours online, as well as the Yamaha tool and the online plans. Yours looks really nice! I'm not quite sold on the carbon fiber thing, though. And I guess I'm guilty of imitation, so you SHOULD be flattered!
I'm not trying to cut into your business on this site; I was just trying to make one myself and it turned out really well.

It's used for blocking off the YICS chamber while synching the carbs.

    excellent. Thank you.

I just got my 82 XJ550 Maxim in September and it runs great, but I wanna strip it down this winter and clean the frame, maybe have it powdercoated and just clean everything up. The motor seems to be fine, but I will probably replace all the wear items. I wasn't sure if this was a tool I will need, but now that I know what it is for, I don't think I will need it since my carbs were just rebuilt last year.

Carbon fiber is cool! Think of the ooo's and aaahhh's you'll get when you whip that puppy out in front of your fellow XJ'ers. You'll be a god among men! Nice work Captain, but I'm still soldiering on just fine with my $12 DIY toothpick. I'd spring for the very reasonably priced ones but I use mine so infrequently, it would be a shame to have such a nice tool sitting there. I will say this about Injuhneers, it is a Cadillac compared to my claptraption, but I've not needed more yet (and you can't buy the factory tool anymore, $100+ on flea-bay if your lucky). Someday I hope to have this problem of needing it more often. Your efforts should be very appealing to the "on the fence and counting pennies" crowd (I'm one of them). I hope you are able to fill a need. I'm saving up however, I wanna be the guy with the cool toys.
