Hello all. I recently found this site while browsing for parts for my 81 XJ550 Seca. Where was this place in 2003?? Looks like a wealth of knowledge here. I hope I can add to it. :)

I found the bike on Craigs List for $300. I took a look at the bike and didn't think it was worth that much. I bargined with the seller and bought the bike from him in 2003 for $200 and it was in shambles. It didn't even run with the choke close. He took the money and since this was my first bike I didn't know what I was getting into. I eventually tore the bike completly apart. Sandblasted the frame and tank repaired all the cracked plastics, rebuilt the carbs. I found some OEM parts on eBay and finally put the bike back together Labor Day 2004.

The Seca runs great and was the segue to my more updated sportbike a 2003 SV1000S which I bought new in 2005.

Here are a couple of pics before and after and threw one in of the SV.

Thanks. :) Never owned a Harley that is where the ressurection of the XJ was performed. A lot of parts ended up on the floor during the reconstruction. Hence the oil and grease stains. The carpet has been replaced and all is good.

That pic was taken the night before the 2006 USGP at Laguna Seca. I was at work and it was slow. I used to be able to park the bike inside the building but security didn't like it. So I parked it outside on the sidewalk right in front of that big window so I can keep an eye on it.

Great job on the Seca restoration, and nice SV!! I think that's probably the first full-faired one I've seen, and I like it! 8)

Welcome to you! I'm very impressed with your investment! That Seca is beautiful. I should be glad to do half as well as you've done!
