I need a 0-140 MPH Speedometer for 19" Front Wheel. Dont need the whole cluster, just the speedo unit to mount directly to the bracket of the XJ 550.

You can "transplant" a compatible unit into the cluster, is that what you mean?

Or are you talking about doing away with the cluster?

    I did this transplant:

I found an NOS speedo from an XJ900 and with some Dremel-mods to the inner housing it fit right in.

Nice job, but I need a speedo to mount to this bracket.

Try a speedo from an FZ600, 700, or 750. Cheap and work well with an XJ's harness.

FZ600 has a 16" front wheel. I need a speedo from a bike with a 19" front wheel in order for the speedo to read properly. BTW I have a FZ harness.

The FZ600 speedo may work anyway if the gearbox at the axle is geared different to compensate on the 600- - you might want to look into that.

the difference will be the gearbox, not the instrument.

A lot of the FZ's are "imbedded" in a cluster; he's doing away with the cluster so needs a "canned" unit.

Any pre-'80 model year XS speedo will fit the bill too, and you can pick from 120mph, 135mph or 150mph depending on what bike it came off of.

Most of those are "canned" units.

The FZ600 unit has the gearbox in the wheel. Same gearbox can be used for either wheel. I see what you mean about the can unit. I was thinking like it was going to be transplanted into a cluster like on the XJ.

Seca 550, restored, with a different speedo and repainted needles.
