Valve specs

    How much better would the bike run if all valves were set equally as close as possible to the loosest allowable clearance compared to just within spec?

    You're talking about 0.0016". You'd never notice a difference.

    The clearances range is .04mm. Valve shims come in .05mm increments. There is only one stock shim that will put a given valve in spec, it's not a matter of choosing tight or loose in spec shims.

    I did not realize that. I remember seeing the chart with a lot of sizes to pick from but never thought only one size will put it back in spec when it is at the lower limit.
