OK, so I noticed sometime last season that the seat on my 550 Seca was wearing through the paint on the top of the frame where it makes contact.

Hoping to "cushion" these areas, I applied some chunks of "gorilla tape" a heavy-duty black duct-tape like super sticky tape.

    Bad idea.

Yesterday I went to swap out the registration in the document holder under the seat. Put the key in the lock, turned it, pulled on the seat latch, and... nothing.

Seat wouldn't budge. Tugging, swearing--- no budge.

Had to PRY it up. Over the summer (I must not open the seat that often) the seat had pounded the tape out of position but not the adhesive. The now-exposed Gorilla Tape adhesive had (very) effectively glued my seat down to the frame.

Cleaned up the mess, slathered some touch-up paint on the worn through to metal spots and called it a day.

    Lesson learned.

home depot has little felt thingies with sticky backs for chair legs on hardwood floors, thicker than tape and won't smash
they might make good little buffing wheels for a dremmel tool too

Man sorry you had to deal with that. Definitely a good laugh though! After the fact ... of course.
