I like it. I was going to bob my 550 a while back and that was a perfect example of how to do it without a rigid mod. I like the diamond plate and before I saw it i had thought about using it on mine in place of the stock covers. When i saw that I was really happy to get an idea of what it will look like.

Oh man... I want to for sure have everything done by april or even as early as march. I won't even get the tank back from the paint shop (TS Customs) til late feb early march. I am actually thinking this is going to be a longer project than expected. Its a custom thing but in the next couple of years I want the bike to have been fully restored/customized.
I am not painting the frame and there are some problems with the wiring harness. Eventually I want all new electrical and the frame painted red.
By the end of March I should have the bike done for this year, though. After that it's time to ride and i won't be doing much to it other than standard maintenance. The only problem is I keep running into things that I need or want to do. Replace a part and I find 3 other things that need to be done. Haha.

I dont Chucks!!!!!!! I do the minor things on my bikes send out the rest so far not much sending out. Found a retired Jap bike mechanic and he charges me me peanuts. Example carbs cleaned tuned and everything for 180$ and he picked up the bike and brought it back to me of I was forgettting he also put 4 new plugs for that price.

OIC. Well it is bad a**. He has another really awesome bike too but this one is the best XJ mod I have seen. I am trying to figure out how to do the speedo the same way and relocate the ignition swtich. I could keep it in the same place but would have to have the speedo too far out in front.

Wow, I like it. ...It would be nice to pull the stock seat off of my Maxim and do something like that, but I've got a pillion with me quite a bit of the time, so I'm kinda stuck with what I've got. At least as far as this bike goes.

You realize you give up the steering lock when you move the switch, right?

I took out my ignition key and used a carefully hidded aviation style switch instead. No ones been able to figure it out,... yet. kevineleven's bike has changed alot. When I first came to this site (aka when I first got my bike), he had just finished his first chop. I saw it and decided (never of having the idea of "chopping") to take every bolt off my bike (including dismantling the entire engine) and chop/rebuild it. It took about two years to put back together and no regrets

That is also a really great bike. And yeah... they are all nice bikes. No matter what I own, I will always keep an xj handy. I am finding out how versatile these bikes can be too
