will an 85 maxim 700 front brake master cylinder work for an 82 maxim 750? were the later 700's a single or dual disc? the banjo bolt for the line should be the same size, right?

my understanding is... yes. might need some differant hose pipes.. but it will work without a problem.

    The 85-86 were dual discs.
Without knowing all the particulars, the master cylinder may either move too much or too little fluid to give you the feel you want/need

I don't know the diameter of either so I can't say either way.
The 700 clamped to the handlebars and I would have guessed the 82 was different but again...just guessing.

the guy emailed me back and said it did indeed have dual front discs, which wont work properly on mine. i just need a MC that isnt tilted. im looking to put drag bars on the bike, so im trying to gather all the required parts. and im trying to not make this a $200 project since the bike is gonna most likely be sold this spring.

Yes, the banjo bolts are the same size, but the 82 750 Maxim also has a fluid level sensor inside the m/c and the lead wires for it go to the dash "computer".

Almost any other XJ-series bike with dual discs had the non-tilted master cylinder (except for the XJ1100, the 1983 XJ750 Maxim, and the XJ750 Seca models).

We offer a fairly inexpensive, great quality "OE" appearaing replacement master culinder which is not tilted and has the output port facing "forward".
