Wondering if anyone has bought any of these "under $20" gribs on ebay?
I have seen a couple of different sets. Solid abs chrome, skull capped type and black foam and chrome.

    Anyone like these knock offs?

I have Kuryakyn's on my Vulcan but they are going for like $80 bucks on the bay.

Should I save up or are these knock off's just as good?

    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

Definitely the first set. Skulls are just... well... kinda skully and no longer impressive or shocking as they once were. If you look at mikesxs.com there are some pretty sweet grips but for 7/8 inch bar and 1 inch sleeve.

I have some black and chrome striped grips. I don't have really good pics of them but if you go to the link under what bike I have, signiture thing there are a few pics. I got them on ebey for like $35 or something from Milwaukee Cycle.I am thinking about switching to the ones on mikes xs though. http://www.mikesxs.net/products-59.html#products. The last 2 in the list are bas ass.

Is that 10.00 a pair and are they soft or hard rubber? Comfort is all I care about. Those chrome ones rubber strips don't take long to start decomposing...getting gooy.

    Per pair.

Relatively soft. They're actually an inner, finely ribbed grip and an outer "skin" making them nice and squooshy without being too much so.

They used to come on British bikes, I've always retrofitted them to everything else I own. I'm not advocating that particular source, they just had the easiest-to-locate picture. You can get them from Bike Bandit or Old Bike Barn, too. The original brand was "Gran Turismo."

I actually noticed, for me, the wider diameter grips were much easier on my hands. Especially wearing gloves. The only thing I had to get used to was positioning when I clutched or braked so as not to pinch my palms between the lever and grip.

I agree with chuckles on this one that the wider diameter was easier for me while wearing gloves. I had some similar black rubber ones on when I got the bike and I hated them. Then I tried a pair with chrome ends but with the foam covering the main part of he grip. Hated those too because the foam started flaking and wearing away. I did like the larger diameter of the foam ones so I tried some similar to what is in the first picture. I think I got them at cycle USA or something for cheap. I like them the best so far and the are much more durable then the foam and every bit as comfortable as the all rubber ones....atleast for me they are.

Yeah comfort is very important. I agree. My Kurythan or whatever they are called are VERY comfortable and look great. Just like $80

Chuckles, I know exactly the grips you are talking about. I have them book marked and may end up getting a pair of those.

They have the rubber running length wise down the chrome grip.

Thanks guys.. keep the comments coming

Thats them. Just be careful with them. They are a real PITA to get on the throttle sleeve. I filed mine down and used the hairspray and it was still hard to accomplish and still bulged a bit. The rubber isn't actually attached to the chrome part of the grip. It is more like it is a grooved rubber grip with a decorative chrome sleeve. They are solid though and very nice.

I use standard rubber grips but wrap them with padded bicycle handle bar tape. Its comfortable, durable, and you can wrap it as many times as you want to your thickness preference. Looks sharp too.
