I won a set of carbs off eBay, they were listed as a set from an 83 xj750 maxim. Well they are not to say the least. they are Keihin but I do not know what they go to...does anyone know?

No idea - maybe a Honda??

Speaking of no idea, looks like the PO had no idea how to put #2 and #3 float bowls back on.....

doing a bit of research they could be off a honda or another possibility is an aftermarket of some kind. ON the net it shows that they make racing carbs so it could be an older form of racing carbs. Is there any kind of model or anything on them?

Those are production carbs off something not a Yamaha. (That's not a Yamaha idle knob.)

What size are they? (Measure intake throat on engine side.)

Are there any other markings? My Mikunis have "4U8" stamped in them somewhere, maybe not every one in the rack but at least one; one of my spares came of a 550 Max as it has "5K5" stamped in it.

See what else you can find, it may lead to a specific model just as 5K5 means 550 Maxim.

The throats on the engine side are 1 5/8" O.D.

From outsie of the first throat to the ouside of the fourth throat is about 11 1/4"
(sorry I don't have a metric tape mesure)

They go on the Honda cb 650 nighthawk for sure. I mean... not those exact ones but we just rebuilt the nighthawk carbs which look identical and are the same brand.

See if the E-Bay vendor will take them back, or was the seller a little "nobody"??
If that doesn't work for you, you could clean 'em up real purdy, ID them, and list them for top dollar.

Thanks everyone for the help. I'll have to get on the Nighthawk forum and see if anyone wants them. They wont fit my Nighthawk and I don't think I will be getting a bike to build around them (unless I can get it for free).

The seller gave me my money back but didn't want to pay to ship them back. So I will sell them for shipping cost.

So your saying if I have a perfectly good set of carbs for my 750, all wrapped in plastic on the shelf in the shop, I should hang onto them? I was thinking about selling them (the ones on my bike are prestine also) because mine are good, but now I'm having second thoughts.
I guess I'll hang onto them untill they are like GOLD and then sell'm!
