.. but I keep coming back to my 650 Seca as the most wonderful motorcycle. After two seasons of riding (and purchasing a Venture as well), it seems like much more than a "starter" bike. It's practical, good looking, made to go the distance, with a motor that has some excitement on the top of the power band. I've looked at other bikes, but none of them combine shaft drive with an air cooled four quite like the Seca.

I am especially fond of the large headlamp and gas tank on the RJ.

Any other RJ owners who keep coming back to their bike as a great design?

These bikes were revolutionaries once. They are fun, exciting and versatile. I had the 650 turbo and, while it was just a 650 seca 7000 and below on the tach, you'd really have to hold on in power band.
Oh, by the way... how do I replace my power band? Haha... and muffler bearings.

I want to get another seca. I'd love to get a big one like the 900 or FJ1100.

Sorry; I feel the same way about the Seca 550s; just can't seem to fall in love with the extra 100+ lbs of mechanism and seemingly unnecessary BULK of the 650 sitting next to the 550.

Hopefully my opinion will change when I finally get it in riding condition...

I haven't experienced the 550. I like the idea of less weight and an extra gear. That said, the 650 fits my 6'!" frame perfectly.

I'm 6'5" and with lower bars and an extra inch of foam in the seat, the 550 fits me just fine as a primarily solo mount.

I think I'm going to better appreciate the 650 as a two-up tourer.

Hmmm... Maybe a 550 will be the next bike... If I could find one. Looks like you have experience with another bike I am interested in-- the SR500 thumper. I've only been riding for a couple of seasons-- but these are the bikes that I am attracted to. The SR500 seems to have quite an aftermarket.

I rode my xj650 for the first time yesterday. I must admit it was only up and down my street poking with an IV for a gas tank but it sure does a lot for the "get er done" attitude. Very close to having a safe machine to ride again and it feels good.

Dont know about the 650, but i absolutely love riding my 550. It is amazingly comfortable and has good get up and go at almost any rpm, and man does it love gettin low in the corners

this is too funny. i was just thinking about this the other day. i was just like man.. i really like this bike. i haven't really pinned the throttle because i'm kind of afraid to. with the crappy stock front suspension the front end kicks around to much when i really lay on the throttle it kicks me back so far i get nervous. but i have new fork springs on the way so i'm hoping itll stiffen it up enough so that i can see what this bike really has!
