Looks like it should be a no-brainer. There are set screws on them to keep them on, so I'd say go for it!

I'm guessing it won't fit because of the close fit from swingarm to tire, so you'd need to trim it (????)

The tire doesn't line up with the back of the driveshaft cover, so they should fit just fine without hitting anything.
As long as your dressing things up, you may want to go to hardware store and get a piece of chrome plumbing pipe for a drive shaft cover. (the kind used for drains) They've been using them on Honda Shadows. You will need to cut them for length and cut it to fit over your driveshaft (trim off the backside where the tire is close)
Some just glues them in place or use clear wire ties to hold them on.
I just thought it would looks good with the chrome bolt caps. Just a thought.

kcoop99-What kind of mufflers are you using on your 650?
They look good. I need a pair for my 1981 xj550 Maxim. Do you think those would fit up NICE[not just o.k.]? I see J.C. Whitney sells some "megaphone style" replacements, but I'm not sure about them[fit ete.] Thanks for any help

That is actually my old 650. They were the ones off of jcwhitney. I believe they were the 16" straight (they needed to be welded on there, they dont just bolt up). I currently am using ones off of a sportster, I REALLY like them! And you can usually find them for about $50 a pair on Craigslist or even ebay.

I have the same Harley mufflers on mine also. I really like the sound too. They are not loud at all. Infact, I'd have to say they sound more like the stock mufflers than any after market mufflers.
If you do look for a pair of Harley mufflers, make sure you get a pair that does NOT have the cross-over tube on them. I got lucky and found a pair of them at a swap meet for $20 and they were just like new.
I found the local Harley Dealer has taken hundreds of pairs of stock mufflers off when people bought their bikes new, but they send them back to the factory, go figure.
