Thought I would introduce myself. I just joined, have been lurking here for a few weeks. Recently I decided to ride again after 20 some years. I wanted to re-build something for the summer so I picked up an '82 XJ 650 for a reasonable amount. Well, when I drove 3-ish hours to claim the one I decided upon, I ended up leaving with 2 additional bikes An 83 Venture and an 82 Suzuki GS for an additional $200.

SO ... as it stands I ended up wiuth 3 to re-build. The first will be the XJ. Then, a week after purchasing the XJ, I find another '82 XJ650 just down the road a bit that I thought I would might be able to use for parts - just in case. Well I buy the second and get the guy to deliver it. Well the second one is in better shape than the first. So now I am building both XJ's almost simultaneously. The woman has decided that she wants the second one. She has already told me she wants a black bike with purple realistic flames - so thats what she's gettin.

Anyway. Here I am. I am sure I will be here lots looking for advice and parts and contribute where I can. I have a bit of knowledge in the paint dept. I build electric guitars as a hobby and have done several custom jobs for local artists. Painted/finished guitars in most everything from waterbased to lacquers to cat poly's. I have rebuilt a couple cars in the past (and painted them) but am not in for that much of a project, though one would think 4 bikes is probably just as much work.

As I said, I will be here a lot.

Thanks in advance for the help I have already found here and for the future! 8)

Hey... Welcome to the forum. Don't ever listen to a damn thing I say. They're all lies. LIES. I don't even own an xj. I don't even have a motorcycle. Oh, brother... Lies.

Anyway... welcome. And I am almost jealous of your colorado livin'. You have some of the greatest riding roads there.

Definitely keep us posted on your progress. Pics are always great too.

    Funny how that happens.

One bike turns into three, five, six...

Welcome on board. I am fairly new myself but there is a ton of good helpful people here.
