So while cleaning my carbs I thought the rubber on the tip of the float needle valve was grime build up and tried to clean it off. Ended up just breaking the tip off one of them. I believe it will still seal with the seat but think its a good idea to replace it anyway.

Do I need to replace the seat as well?

Do I need to replace all the float needle valves at the same time?

Will after market parts be ok on this?

I'm crazy? If it still makes a seal its fine?

If it were me I'd order a new valve for that carb from Chacal. They're too hard to install/remove to risk having to do it an extra time.

I once ordered new n/s from a hitachi web site and they didn't work because they were too long. New Yamaha n/s cost around $90 each!
My dealer ordered me just the needles from K and L and I just got the call that they came in. Cost me $27 for 4.
I'll let the site know how they work out.

Same thing happened to me, so bought all new from chacal, 39 dolla for all 4 with seats, but adjustment was necessary as they were taller than factory. I took my time set them as level as I could as the old ones, and ended up perfect.

Just be sure once you replace the needle(s) that you check the float levels using fuel and the "clear tube" method. Dry-setting is just a starting point.

It's always 'best' to go with new seats too - but I've only seen one or two cases were the seats had any sort of significant wear on them. If I was you, I would just be replacing the 1 float needle.

    thanks,

I forgot to mention that the bike has less then 3k miles on it. So I'm sure the wear in the seats are minimal.
