oh this weather is killing me!! it's riding weather the snow is all but gone and my new exhaust is still with the welder! every time I see a bike on the road I turn green with envy but it's finally coming together, fuel tap is rebuilt, fuel lines and filter replaced, exhaust is ready (except the welding part) seat recovered ($115 at a local place with the thick -40 degree stuff!!)

anyway thats all I have to say, so tell me, who's riding already and who is sharing my pain?

As former President Bill (Buba) Clinton said " I feel your pain".

My bike is stripped down and I'm awaiting parts from being painted and my gasket set for the shift, clutch and oil pump case covers (polishing like crazy) and new brake lines. Wanted to powder coat the frame too but I'll just touch it up for now and at the end of the riding season strip it back down for powder coating.

It's still snow on the ground here in Chicago, but it made it up into the low 50's yesterday and that itch to ride was there.

I just need to get my valve cover right and then I should be doen after doing a heap of work to the 650 Maxim. It is still a bit nippy here in NH but I am hoping in the next 2 weeks to be on the road. We have had a couple of 50 degree days.

Just waiting on valve cover gasket and new ignitions switch, then clean and assemble. I should be ready in 2 weeks. Sun finally came out yesterday and it hit 40 degrees. The winter that never ends is starting to go away.

Vintage rice...I've got the same bike, without the cool looking tank graphics. I'm painting my tank on Sunday and hope my bike looks as good as yours when I'm done.

Yep, I'm in the same boat, guys. The weather has been lovely here this week, and my bike has been sitting patiently in the garage waiting for new brake lines. They arrived in yesterday's mail, so today will begin with a quick trip to the parts store for brake fluid, then I can put the ol' gal back together and back on the road before it starts raining again!

Well thank you BigDaddy. Appreciate the compliments. Take your time you can do the same thing with yours if you take your time. Lord knows we had plenty of that over the winter months.

    Good luck everyone!

I RODE IT TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and now i find out my bike is not charging anymore....... :( but i still went out for an hour with just battery juice, so that means i can ride it to work and fix it in the shop.

im not sure what weather we have forecasted, but the spring birds are all over the place, i trust them more than the weatherman!

Yup me too. Had to take out the Vulcan and not the Xj due to it still waiting on a valve clamp. Only went out for about an hour but it was great.

My last ride was Dec 7 so less than 3 months later back in the saddle. Not bad.

I will say however I am a realist and I know there will still be many days in between where it will be too crappy to ride. Upper 40's this week buy back in the 30's next Fri.

    It won't be long fella's..

    Ride on!

I checked the float levels today before I put the carbs back on the bike. They were all set a little to high. Put them on turned petcock to pri gave it a second to fill the bowls then hit the start button and voila I rode her for an hour with no problems what so ever. If I was not so sick with a head cold I would still be grinning. I just did a light touch up on the sides of the engines with a polishing wheel and she looks so pretty. This was the first time I have ever messed with any kind of carburator. So I did alot of looking over this site. I don't I could have done it without the help of you guys. I didn't just clean the carbs I also bench synch and set the float hight. So I am very greatful to you guys. Now all I have left to do is buy the YICS block tool and figure out how to use the vaccum gauges and then buy a colortune plug and it will be set for the year besides the normal maintenance: brakes, oil etc.
