I rode around the block and came back to the garage because it felt like the brakes were dragging. All checked out ok. Went around the neighborhood for 5 minutes or so up to 35 mph at times. The bike felt "loose" and I almost did not need to use the brakes to stop. Back at the garage I discover the rear tire is almost flat. OOPS! I thought something was wrong as I rode but brushed it off as not being used to the bike after sitting all winter. Riding with a flat rear tire was nowhere near as hard as riding a dirtbike in mud or even sand. It was more like very loose dirt. It wobbled ever so slightly here and there. I filled up the tires and went on a half hour ride. I did a big burnout from a stop sign and frightened a bunch of 10-12 year old kids who were half a block away. They were all 8O as I coasted by telling me to slow down.

Sweet. I took my first ride Saturday...then again Monday and yesterday went for a long ride with a buddy. Still a little chilly out, but might tough it out to ride to school and work the rest of the week.

Going to be bringing her back out over spring break regardless of temp. I let my bike sleep long enough. Time to lay down some rubber.

I should be bringing mine out Saturday. Supposed to be 7 degrees or so here, so i figured i could at least ride around town and still be somewhat comfortable.

Plans is for me to do a little work on her early Saturday, hopefully by noon she'll be ready. This weekend, here in Chicago, it suppose to be mid- 40's... warm enough for me! Just hope the wife understands and don't have a large honeydo list!!!

Gawd I am getting antsy! Still have my tank and bike about 35 miles from eachother. They are starting on my tank this week and the brakes should be fully done by the time the tank is done.

It's getting painted glass black with the words "Road Rash" on the sides in place of the Yamaha emblems. The lettering and detail will all be red. The seam around the bottom edge of the tank will also be red giving it a trimmed look. Also, on the top of the tank will be a tribute to my buddy who bit the dust on thanksgiving, "In Memory Of J. Everett Ruckstalas 1985-2009". The bike was dubbed "Road Rash" as that was about the condition it was in by the time we were done tearing it up.

I got the itch, if it gets to the temp they are saying for sat (mid 40's!) I'm hopping on and going for a ride. Def will need to be checking the air in the tires and probably get a can of starting fluid just in case. She's crabby and doesn't like to start when it's cold out. If that doesn't work the 250 fires up first or second kick every time (gotta love 2 strokes!) so that may have to happen. Or maybe both!

You took the bike out on your first ride without check the tires? Is this correct young man? Huh?
Now put the bike away and go to your room. Naughty boy. Maybe you have learned something today.

No, I said I needed to check the tires before taking it out... which I did and do before every ride I take on either of my bikes.

I think PainterD was referring to Jim123 (original post) about his flat tire....

Can't wait to get out there either but in Quebec we have a winter tire law which means no bikes until the 15th of march... legally that is.... I have seen some riding around the block.... most likely checking out what needs to be tweeked....

Second ride today it got to 60f. First ride was yesterday after I put my carbs back on from a cleaning and sync. I just rode around for about an hour because I am so sick with head cold but could not pass up the opportunity to ride on a bueatyful day. The weather is changing for the better soon we will be able to rid more often. Can't wait.

Went out for a ride today here in york it was in the 60s YAY! Everything ran great. I even ran with some sport bikers who where kind enough to let me ride with them. I currently ride alone that will soon change though.

Got dirty before the ride though changed my oil and oil filter and lubed up the chain. Let my freind ride my bike as well and he left with 1/4 of a tank and he brought the bike back with a full tank What a nice guy.

    More riding to come!

Life was def. good at my house this week-end. Got to take the bike out 3 days in a row! I'm still real new to riding (starting my second summer) and don't like to ride in the cold but we were up in the hi 50's, low 60's this week-end. So glad I could get out since it looks like spring is trying to get here with rain expected for the next week. But, we're not done with the cold quite yet I'm afraid. Here's hoping for a nice long spring!!

Same here, Got to ride again this afternoon. The frost heaves are unreal and the tail bone takes a beating but just like in Kansas the New Hampshire winter is not done yet I am sure.

We are sure to get a few more storms but in between that if it gets in the upper 40's with sun I am out there. If we don't sink into the mud.

Here in NH immediately following winter we have mud season. Uggggg

    Spring....bring it on!

The tires never lost air before in the 2 seasons I had the bike. I learned a blowout on the rear tire might be scary with a passenger or while rounding a turn. Not sure what a flat front tire would be like.

My first (and only) blowout was on my old CB350 Honda with my wife on the back, going thru town at 35 mph. The backend danced around from side to side, but I managed to keep it up till I came to a stop. WHEW! Never want to go thru that out on the freeway. I can't imagine having it happen to a front tire.
