Exhaust heat shield ?

    i have an 82 maxim 750 and the right heat shield was damaged when it was layed over by the previous owner. ive found xj1100 heat shields for sale will they bolt on??

    I looked at the link I have and don't even see one listed for the 750.
    82 750J or 82 750RJ. But the 82 1100J has it shown. Hmm. I wonder whats up with that. So maybe someone else has the answer.

    The heat shields on your bike were unfortunately part of and welded/clamped to the collector box. They don't just bolt on like the 1100.

    The only real remedy is to replace the collector box.

    eBay.

    hmm....funny you say that cuz ive already taken the bolts out and looked at the heat shield. maybe it came off of another bike??

    The parts fiche for your bike shows them as an inseparable part of the collector box. Must be some form of retrofit (or the fiche is wrong, wouldn't be the first time.)

    Do you have a pic of that heat shield? I wonder if it was possible to fit an 1100 header on it. Maybe a measurement between the holes. I could measure the ones on my 1100 and see if they are the same.
