I fired my bike up for the first time since parking it for the winter.
It started right up but then began leaking gas. The gas is coming out of the bottom of the drive shaft boot . The gas seems to have a little oil in it.
If the crank fills with gas would it leak out of the boot or am I going to need to replace a seal?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Holy crap.

Are you sure it's not coming from somewhere else, like the airbox, and just dripping from there?

that would be my guess, that it is coming from the overflows & dripping onto the rubber boot.......

The likelihood that Gasoline is leaking from the Shaft Boot is real low.
    Way low.
    You'd have a big problem.

I'd look for a Carb Overflow Hose not connected and Fuel stain on the case.

If it's NOT leaking when you look, ... Blow some Talc on the backside of the Engine.
Any leak will wet the Talc and be easy to trace to the source.

How about checking your oil level, with the bike on centerstand??
Any "XS" gas or oil leaks out of the airbox onto the drive bellows.

How about doing a float level check while you have your tools out ??

    Thanks for the suggestions.
I got a good look at it today.
I drained the oil. The oil was mostly gas. The air box was dry as was the top of the drive shaft boot. The air box drain tube was dry also. The shaft boot has a drain hole in the bottom and this was where the leak was coming from.
After an oil change the leaking pretty much stopped .
I took it for a little ride and got no more leaking.
Looks like I have some carb work in my future.
Could the low viscosity of the gas have allowed it to seep into the shaft boot through the less than pristine seal ?

    Very possibly.

The gas in the oil thing is caused by a two-pronged problem, a carb or carbs not shutting off AND a petcock that didn't either.

Bigfitz- As for the petcock, I ..... forgot to turn it off when I stored it last season.
I won't be making that mistake again.
