i fail to understand the thought patterns of people who take a motorcycle and bastardise it into a trike. purpose built trikes i can understand, here in oz we get some radical looking trikes and they have a place, but to turn a good bike into some mechanical misfit that never looks right or complete is beyond my thinking. by that i mean if you are scared to lean into a turn on a bike in the first place don't get on one. buy a purpose built unit from the start or stay in your car. we lose enough bikes to accidents, old age and neglect witrhout have them turned into frankenstiens.
just my personal thoughts, cheers people

I know my dad was a long time rider until his car accedent and now its hard for him to ride so he bought a trike and its not that bad for longer trips either. Personaly I dont enjoy Trikes eitherl, but they do give another option for those that cant ride like they used to. My mom is to scard to ride a bike but she will hop on the Trike no probs.

Have a look at some of th comments from new member Ady1 who has trikes
and makes them. It's not just about modifying for th sake of it every time.

I've seen some good ones and some stupid looking one in my day. I guess I've run thru the idea in the past, but after riding one, I found it's just not for me. I didn't like the idea and feel of it while riding. Of course, some are better than others. It's a good option for some who are not able for various reasons (ie; leg injury, older with artheritis, etc.) But until then, I'll be on two wheels, not three.

Next winter I am building a trike for my wife who loves to ride but has cerebral palsy, a trike makes it easier for her to handle, because she can't use her feet the way we do. I'm also incorporating an electric shift mechanizm for her.

Misjudge the speed into a bend just once on a trike or combo & you'll need a pants transplant.

i don't like trikes at all, but there are some that can at least be better built than others. for example, i had my girlfriend snap a pic of this guy while driving to san diego last august

i wanted to follow this guy til he stopped and slap him in the face. i've always wanted to fix up a classic beetle and this guy trashed one. clearly this is the low end and they get "better" but still not by much.

Put an Olds tornado engine and transaxle mid engine in it. It would be the worlds stupidest looking street dragster. Kinda like Jessie James Cummins powered trike, but quicker and more dangerous.

OK- - the yellow bug would be cool if it had DUAL controls,
so if it rained, you go inside and stay dry.

Other than that- - it's stupid.

I agree with the OP and it seems most of the rest that a trike or a streetfighter or most any radical custom; really should come from donor vehicles that have had the rest of them totaled. I hope to gawd that bug had it's front end smashed before this guy got a hold of it. no sense ruining a great vehicle much less multiple good vehicles just to create something for the sake of effing around with your plasma cutter. Organ donation is a beautiful thing. The life of one continuing on in the body of another. What some people do, chopping up a few great vehicles to feed some mad scientist need to create a hideous monster is just murder.
