I am planning on bringing life back to my vinyl seat that is in great condition but faded. I want to use the vinyl dye spray by SEM. Need to know what kind of black to use? gloss, satin, or landau. These are my choices.
Anyone use this and and have good results? I know Chacal sells a dye spray too but not sure the brand. He has flat black.

I wouldn't go with gloss black, it would make it too slippery and shiny. You'd be better off with the satin finish.

Hey Dave, I also have the gloss black, and that's actually as close as you're going to get to a "new" look............original seat covers were actually an incredibly "shiny" black color (although they were not "slick"). You need to be SURE to use the proper vinyl pre-cleaner product, or the dye will rub off rather quickly. It's a good idea to lay the vinyl out in the sun for a few hours (or heat it up in some other way) before cleaning and spraying, to allow the material to expand, and thus allow the dye to actually enter into the pores of the material.

The flat vs. gloss dye color makes no difference in the final "slickness" of the vinyl, as long as it is properly applied. These are not paints, they are dyes........

So what your saying is it actually soaks into the vinyl? Good to know for future referance.
When he mentioned gloss and satin, I assumed it was the finish it left AFTER it was applied. If it soaks in there is no issue with the finish then.
