I recently bought a xj750rj. It ran but needed front brakes and a few other things. I took everything apart and now that it is back together the headlight no longer works. Everything else (blinkers, horn, starter, ect) works fine. any thoughts.

Check/replace the bulb and fuse? Check the wiring and wiring harness? Replace the old fuse box with the modern plug/blade type, as you may have a short circuit originating at the box.

I had the same problem. It turned out to be my headlight relay. Its mounted underneath the rectifier on the left side of the bike right about where your leg would be if you were sitting on it. remove the relay and using a small lenght of wire jumper the red with yellow striped wire and blue with black stripe, turn on the ignition and if the headlight illuminates then that would be your problem. Chacel carries replacements.

I had a problem with the fuse to the headlight on my 82 Seca continually blowing out. Figured out the metal snap for the fuse was wearing out, allowing the fuse to touch the other one. Tried to fix it, but the snap came off.

Rather than putting in a whole fuse box, I just replaced the fuse box connection for the headlight with an inline fuse holder. Not as pretty, but problem is fixed.

Awesome. Thanks everybody for the help. I got it working. turns out you have to have the assembly screwed into the can. Yup real smart. I took her for a ride and let me tell you after riding my wife's nighthawk 450 for the last month I had to say whoa.
