Just wanted to let everyone know that i have been using the Sta-bil marine formula in all my small engines and motorcycle and have had excellent results. It combats the ethanol in the gas. Not just for marine use. I was a big (seafoam) guy before, but now switch to the new Sta-bil. Living in upper midwest were everything has minimum 10% ethanol sucks. Now there looking into raising that minimum. Great for cars maybe but not so sure on the small engines. I hear pros and cons both ways. I use this at every fill.

Dave, I use the product too, but still go old-school and drain my carbs before storing my stuff. Then, if the gas tank is small, I drain that too using using a pump, otherwise, I add stabil and fill the tank to the top to avoid moisture problems.

I was using "Sea-Foam" and liked it, but very expensive and hard to get here in Canada. I switched to "Sta-bil" ; just as good [my opinion] easy to buy and is way less expensive, here. My carbs. are all done [last year] and I run "Sta-bil" thru them alot and the carbs are CLEAN and the bike -550 Maxim is running beautifully. P.S. -just did the "forks" and changed front brake lines to "Stainless Steel"

I also switched this year to te marine formula for both the bike and the snowmobiles. I figure when it says twice the corrosion protectant as stasndard sta-bil and lists that it can be used in most stuff how could I go wrong. plus it treats more gallons of fuel than the standard.

Been using Sta-Bil for years, switched to SeaFoam because of all the talk and switched back to Sta-Bil for this past winter.

Turned out SeaFoam affects how the bike runs; Sta-Bil never has.

A full tank cannot rust; full float bowls will not gum up as quickly as "drained" ones. (There's always gas left in there to dry out and turn into varnish.) PO of my 650 parked it 15 years ago with a full tank of what was no longer gas when I got it however there isn't a SPECK of rust in the tank. Too bad it's so badly dented and wrinkled it's getting replaced. Shiny inside tho...

Drain them in the spring to get rid of any settled moisture, crud, etc; I always get a rather interesting crop of contaminants. Of course this assumes functioning drain screws. My Norton has 1/2" diameter plastic PLUGS that unscrew from the bottom of the carbs.

I have never drained carbs on any engine over the winter. I've always used Sta-bil and Seafoam over the winter months with good results. I just use what ever I have at the time. Fill the tank full and you will not have problems with it rusting inside.

    DaveXJ,
I never got down there last year for various reasons (either family issues or the weather) so hopefully we can get together with the others and do some riding. It's just better going down your way anyways (better roads, curves and hills) I still have a list of riders in the area and I see some are still posting here, so hopefully we can get'm all together this season. PD
