My situation just changed, enuf said. So I'm afraid I won't have time & resources to finish / enjoy this little project. (selling my mint FJR1300 too, just in case anyone's interested... like I said, my situation just changed)

As it is now, I cleaned the carbs and even though there's a spark plug wire to be changed on #4 cylinder, it starts and settles into a smooth idle if you so much as glance at the starter button (without touching the throttle at all). It only has 14k kms.

VIDEO: I rolled it out into the parking lot and did an early morning cold start. Even on 3 cylinders, it starts instantly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gzp_mK7riHw

PICTURES: If you didn't already catch my post earlier this week, here are some pics of the old girl http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=23429.html

I paid $1100. With truck rental & fuel, carb cleaning, yada yada yada.... I'm up to $1550 out of pocket to date. I'm not looking to “make money”, but I do have a lot of hours & effort invested for all the hours of driving, shipping & work I've put into it to get it to this stage.
.....so if anyone's interested, make an offer (serious only SVP) Best offer over $2K takes it. I’m also going to list it on CL, Kijiji and trader.net but I thought I SHOULD let XJ enthusuasts have first crack. I'll list it for $2500 on those sites.

SHIPPING: I can deliver it in Quebec and Ontario (I found a local truck rental for $82 for the whole weekend, with unlimited KMs!!!!!!!) You pay for $82 truck, gas and meals. Or you can leave it here, safely locked-up as long as you want, to arrange pickup here in montreal.

Re: For sale: all-original mint condition '82 Seca 650

So much for giving XJ enthusiasts first crack. Not a peep from anyone?

I posted ad went on craigslist yesterday morning for $2200 and someone paypalled me a $200 deposit sight unseen. Coming by after work so I guess it's gone.

I'm not sure why you responded that way. I certainly wasn't ragging on anyone. As I said, I was just surprised that after 24 hours, not even a comment or anything.

In my whole week on this forum, I had never seen a post on any subject go more than a couple of hours before an assortment of helpful/silly/other responses. So given the amount of chatter that had taken place about this old Seca I found, never mind someone being interested in buying it, I didn't understand why no one had made ANY comment.

I actually thought I did something wrong!

That being said, no ragging intended and if it came across that way, it certainly wasn't my intention.

ha ha. Damned 28 year old tires

    some news:
the guy wanted to 'reserve' the bike with a deposit but when he got here, he wants to negotiate. Up yours buddy. BS deposit refunded and after a whole afternoon of sellers remorse, I just deleted the listing and instead ordered new tires.

What was I thinking? I haven't even gone for a ride on it yet.

I can't keep her so I will list it again but not until I've actually finished her 100% and had some fun with the old girl.

    Andre,

Glad to hear that it almost sold so quickly. I have one almost as nice that I am going to put on the market later this spring. Let me know what you get for it.

    Thanks

    Hi Ken
well 'the plan' was to eventually make it across the river to your place whenever your lawn can take the traffic! That was part of the sellers remorse. Not only was it my first streetbike 25 yrs ago, you're also the original owner of the same bike.
There's more fun to be had. I did list both the FJR1300 and the Seca. If I sell the FJR, I will definitely be keeping the Seca.

Know anyone who wants an FJR? ;)
here she is naked (no luggage), just out of storage this past sunday
