I know I've seen a very detailed thread for testing/troubleshooting an XJ electrical system. After a lot of searching, I still cannot locate it.

I see a lot of other electrical issue threads popping up here. If someone can locate the troubleshooting thread (I realize this is a bit vague), it may be a timely bump.

My issue is the battery losing charge after just a few days. Fairly sure the problem is on the bike as it doesn't occur with the battery disconnected.

I've been having the same issue with my Seca since before putting it away for the winter. I used the multimeter to rule out wiring. The next things I'm going to check for are stuck open relays and starter/alternator brushes.

When you turn your key off, does the engine still run? Mine does. I don't have time to search for a thread to link (sneaking at work) but hopefully someone else can point one out for you.

Actually, I'm in the habit of killing the engine by putting down the side stand.

I am guessing it is the battery - my "New" (Last year) battery is struggling to start my bike.

What you want is an electrician friend who has a DC clamp meter, who can tell you where th current is going.

How about this idea - pull the four fuses then put them back when you want to ride the bike - does it still seem to loose its charge?

Isolate the suspect circuit this way.

A very basic check. Does the headlight get brighter above idle? If not, check alternator brushes, a common culprit
