is your idle jumping way up? just running lean? what are your symptoms? have you replaced your fuel and vac hoses? how do the boots look before and after the carbs?

What do the spark plugs look like?

Did you bench syn the carbs before putting
    them back on?

Have you checked the valve clearances?

are your synch ports airtight (the metal nipples out of the carb to engine boots). Also check the one with the hose from from it to the fuel tank vacuum port. They were the suspects on mine when I first started out...

if the idle doesn't jump up, and you haven't checked your plugs, what makes you say it's sucking air?

Pull all the vac lines off the boots and cap them. Including the one to the petcock. You will have to put the petcock in prime to run it. If it runs good then you have a vac leak in the petcock. My bike had this trouble when I got it. Made the last PO so mad looking for it, he sold it to me and got another bike.
