Would like to know if anyone has retrofitted rear shocks on a 83 xj900? and from what model bike did you get them from. Mine are shot. Looking for cheap and simple replacement.

Will the rear shocks off an 82 seca 750 work on my 83 seca 900? I found some standard coil overs on eBay for a 82 750 seca and some air ride for a 650 turbo seca would ether of these fit my 83 seca 900 :?: ?

Your post says "off a 750 and "for" a 750.

If they are "off" a 750, and the bike had more than a few thousand miles on it, don't do it. Used shock absorbers are false economy.

As for fit, Progressive Suspension's website lists the same shocks for both the 750 Seca and 900 Seca so they probably would.

Well just trying to find out what i can get away with. The ones I have on it now are completely out of oil and sloppy rod and head bushing so basically anything would would be better than what is on it now. If the 82 seca 750 shocks will bolt up to my 83 900seca then atleast stop the bounce and tire hop when i hit the rear brake. I can pick the 750seca shocks up for about $40.00 I guess I'm going to get them and try it. If they don't fit lesson learned and only $40 in the hole.

I had a local company (aus) make some heavier springs as I was bottoming out when two up. Solved that problem completely! I realise you need more than that. As posted earlier, IKON are a quality shock.

Update - Got my used showa rear shocks today ( they came off a 82 seca 750 )and installed them. worked great except it raised it 3/4in but Ill live with it just have to tip toe a little. Rebuilt the front forks with new seals and 20wt pj1 fork oil. Took it for spin was like night & day, rode a lot better than it did before. Just a couple more little things and be ready to paint. :D
