I have cleaned my carbs, bench synched and set float levels. The bike started and ran fine for a week or so, now number 2 cylinder is not firing. So I rechecked the float levels with a clear tube and number 1,3 and 4 were fine. Number 2 was high so I pulled the carbs off and measured the float hight and yes it was off so I readjusted the hight. Then put carbs back on and rechecked same thing. Just as soon as the bowl filled up fuel started coming out of the overflow tube. I shut the fuel off and it stopped then turned fuel back on and it did not over flow anymore but when I checked the level with the clear tube it was still too high. The bike will run fine at high RPMs but you can tell it is missing at lower RPMs. I know it is because the #2 cylinder is firing at high RPMs and burning the fuel but at low RPMs it is dumping too much fuel. My question is should I adjust the float to set lower in the bowl to put more pressure on the needle valve or just replace the float and needle valve all together. I can't afford to do alot right now because I am moving in the next three weeks so what would be a good patch until I get into the new place. Any suggestions will be helpful.

I would first check to make sure that the "pin" holding the float is not bent in ANY way. Adjust your floats using the clear tube method. IMO setting them to a certain measured height will not give you a "true" fuel level when the bowl is full. As long as the float isn't damaged or overweight, It would be fine. It is possible that something got passed the filter and stuck between the needle and seat.
I would also check the throttle shaft seals.(where the butterfly shaft runs through each side of each carb.) I just found out mine were bad after only 20K.
I used carb cleaner and the small hose to pinpoint the spray.

I am checking my floats with the clear tube but I am comparing the hight with the other floats. The rod the float is on is fine. I am guessing that I can't go by the other floats and have to make an adjustment to this float a little more. The carbs were cleaned and a new filter was put on before the fuel went into the carbs. So there should be no trash in the carbs. I checked the filter and it is clean right now. I will pull the carbs again today and make another adjustment to the float.
