Is there ways to enhance or upgrade the ignition system on the XJ?

Some say Dyna coils are a step up, but I have no experience with them, so I can't say one way or another. Worth some research.

Probably, but why? The stock system, when functioning properly, is fine.

Even with the rejetting I hav? The mains are 125 with pods and mac exhaust. I am getting weaker spark and am probably just going to go with changing what is bad with stock. The coils and wires are original so they might be bad. But not going to do anything with the set-up if everything is checking out good. It was just a thought and I ended up p[osting the question before I made up my mind on what I am going to do.
I'll probably be on here a lot again and have decided I am not doing shops anymore ever. If I am going to do my own wrenching I need to do it all myself and take the time and effort to do things that come up as needing done.

Dyna Coils are an improvement because they allow you to employ high-quality Spark Plug Wires.

My experience with Stock Coils is that their Wires break-down or get "Clipped-back" so often, over their years, that you either have to replace the Wires or the whole Coil.

The drawback is that the Dyna Coils need some fabrication to get them hung.
    Not that it's complicated.
It's just inconvenient having to "Make-up" what should (In my opinion) be part of the price of the Dyna Coils.***

*** (A package of Brackets and Hardware that you need to get them hung).

Try the iridum plugs. They got me a 200 rpm increase at idle with no other changes.

Total success. I am running the hotter plugs. I tried a .28 gap which was too much so went to 25/26, ran the bike in the power band mostly, plug chop, tan color. The vacuum is in tact and operating again. Did a couple more chops to be sure and we have tan. I think that is the first tan plugs I have ever seen on that bike! haha. Throttle response was excellent, power was perfect, running at idle VERY smooth. Actually smoother than ever. I think i found the solution, at least to my problem. And I let the plugs get hot enough to where if I was going to ping it probably would have. So I am happy.
