JC Whitney specials, 12.5" long, will fit Seca-Maxim 650-750, MIDI brand (Taiwan ROC), 900 miles on them, 5-position preload adjustable, just too stiff for my 50-yr. old back. Probably ok for 200+lb. riders (gear included). I took the springs off these when I got them to check the damping-real good! No leaks, just as new out of the box. Reason for selling-bought some Seca 750 shocks off ebay! $65.00+shipping.

Ok, I'm interested. Test ride possible? You mentioned they were not to your liking, refresh my memory as to why.

    Robert,
The shocks were too stiff for me, the stock Seca 750 shocks I got off ebay are much better for my work commute (hard to believe I spent money on stock shocks ) . I didn't want to spend the bucks for different springs for the JCWhits; the fleabay shocks cost $37.00. I took the springs off to clean them up & check the damping; damping ok & even the rebound adjusters work! :D
Hey, no word from Brent on the basket case??

Nothing yet, I ought to give him another jingle. Still wondering why we didn't hook up. I'm HOPING to have my Max ridable by the end of this month (we're thinking of a trip up there about then). I'd love to try them out for a zip. I'll be in touch, but if you get any other offers, please don't wait up for me.

i may be interested, I've had my bike for about a year and this bike is a 82 with the originals, got to figure they need replaced right? IF I take em off the bike do i take them to some one to have them checked or do i just check em myself ? let me know what you think and what kind of deal would you make me on those shocks.

You test them by riding with them. If they feel too soft, adjust them to a stiffer setting. If your maxed out, it is time to replace them. Given the age of our priceless relics, it might be time for you to examine replacement. I have yet to be unhappy with the stockers on my Maxim.

I am stick running the stockies on my 82 Maxim and they are doing great, just depends on how the bike was riden and taken care of. Check em out with a good ride on a slightly bumpy road, that'll let ya know quick..
