XJ650 Maxim Charging ins and outs.

    Well, I'm putting in a new battery an I want to go over the charging system and need to know what to look for. Any and all help is gretly appreciated.

    Well, on the most basic level, if you put in a new, known good battery and the bike starts and runs, check for 14VDC at the battery while the bike is running, and you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If there is a problem, (which is where I am with my bike) a good place to start is page 215 of the Haynes manual if you have a copy.

    You won't get 14V at idle. You need to check it at 2K RPM or higher.
