    Hello everyone,

New to the forum, i used the search but could not seem to find what i needed (only chacal part numbers) so sorry if i missed a post with this already in it.

I am a new owner doing an oil change on my 83 XJ750MK and need the Yamaha part number for the crush washer that goes on the stock drain plug. I am trying to buy it online but can't seem to find the part number or the location on any of their diagrams. Can you help me out? Also i have read in various posts the the fram filters come with new gaskets, i can not seem to find any fram filters local or at the sites i am going to online. Can you give me the Yamaha part number for the gaskets? (it looks like two in the part diagrams?) and anything else you think i might need?

    Thanks so much,

glad to find this wonderful group.

    Jesse

Take your oil drain bolt to the local auto parts store and have them fit a crush washer to it.

By the time you pay a dealer for the o-rings you can have several fram filters (with o-rings) and shipping from Chacal. If you want a Yamaha crush washer you can order it then too.

Good idea! Ill just order from Chacal and save time and hassle. I was just hoping i could click submit online and make my payment right away and be done with it this second while i got the cash burning a hole in my account.

    Thanks for your help!

a plain copper washer will do the job just as well. then all you need to do when you take the bolt out is gently heat the washer and re-use it.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I have never replaced a crush washer, and have never had a leak.

Most auto stores should have replacement washers for oil plugs. There are alot of foreign cars with the same size plugs on them (my Honda Accord for one) I replace mine after a few oil changes when they get too far gone.

I don't normally either. I had to replace the one on my XJ650 because a PO had apparently used a long piece of pipe on his wrench when tightening it.

I've also had to replace them on the cages after somebody went nuts with the impact at an instant oil change place. I just do my own now, easier and quicker than having to fix the goof ups.
