Hey all, just introducing myself. I'm a Purdue graduate student, and am the proud new owner of a 1982 XJ750 Maxim. Really good condition, just some surface rust in a few areas, and a tank dent on the right side - what else would you expect from an '82? It has 26k miles, runs quite well, came with a very, very loud aftermarket exhaust. Might even have to turn it down a bit. Not sure about future plans with the bike except to ride it as much as I can!

Two mods I most want to implement would be:

    1. Replacing square headlamp. This is pretty much a no-brainer to improve the look IMHO. Any suggestions out there for a circular headlamp?

    2. Add a low profile windshield? Again, any suggestions? I'm looking for one that's large enough to do some wind deflection, but short enough so I don't have to look through it when riding.

    Thanks all!

BTW stay with same wattage. Also if you didn't get one, buy aftermarket manual...

Dont know about the headlight. Look in my photo gallery for a pic of my windshield. I take it off the bike when it gets warm. Just click the gallery button below this post.

That is a link that will get you to the exact same shield i use. You will just have to switch to a round headlight to make it work. The company is National Cycle if you didnt figure it out from the www. good luck and welcome

Thanks lowlife, I'm actually planning on doing that when I make my first maintenance rounds (fluids, etc)
