OK so does anyone know how an electronic tachometer works, i am currently trying to fit a 82 750 seca engine into a 82 650 frame, but the 750 has an electronic tachometer and the 650 had a mechanical. So, does anyone know how i would hook up an electronic tachometer with the 650 wiring?

Get a 750 wiring diagram and add the tach part from that into the 650 wiring.

There are three wires grey, black and I think brown (don't remember for sure)

Black is ground the grey comes off one of the coils (Mine comes from the right coil when sitting on the bike) I don't remember where the third wire comes from. (I'm at work and don't have my bike or manual with me.)

Did you get the 750 to mount into the 650 frame? Did you have to move any mounts?

Brown is +12v. Mount-wise, a 750 engine fits into a 650 frame perfectly. At least mine did.

The period indicates the end of the sentence, not a shortening of the word volt.

The brown wire tcoop couldn't remember is the 12V lead.
