Well I just bought a '82 Maxim 650 tonight, paid $700 for the bike. It has 19,224 on the clock and starts right up, no issues running. The only thing it might need is rear brake shoes. They squeak a little bit on stops. I'll post some pics up tomorrow when the sun comes back out :) It could use a few little things (like a new paint job) But hopefully it will continue to run good. Any suggestions from some of the veterans on crash bars or highway pegs
? Looking for a better riding position for long distance.

I figure I'm going to have to replace the shoes very soon, So I will be visiting the local dealer to find out how much they are going to tax me.

Just out of curiosity, does the front wheel lock ? The previous owner said it did not when he got it. I was just curious if this was common or did one of the previous owners possibly disable it ?

steering lock? shoud, turn the steering all the way left or right, with the key in the off position push in on it, release and turn counterclockwise.

Actually mine does not lock. My last bike you could lock the handle bars to the left when the bike was off. This one, the handlebars don't lock.
