    what do the guages look like, are they one peice with a digital read out, or are they separate speedometer and tach?

    Sure it's an 83 then? I have a neighbor with an 83 Maxim 750 and it has the chrome round looking guages on it. I believe the 81/82 XJ750 Maxims have this type though.

    '82 XJ750 Maxim and '81-83 XJ750 Seca models use a "same but different" gauge cluster. As long as it's the entire cluster, they will physically and electrically interchange between those models. Individual components pieces, besides the LCD unit, will not interchange between them.

    Do some 83's have the LCD display? My wifes just has the Speedometer,tach and 4 display lights(nutral, turn, highbeam and oil)

    well im looking for a set of guages for a 81 750 seca, those are what came on the bike, but i was kinda looking for a round tach... i swapped the engine out of the 750 into a 650 seca frame i have the guages to the 650 but i need an electronic tach.

    1983 XJ750 Maxim and Midnight Maxims (and '84's, for the Great White North crowd) used the XJ550 Maxim and XJ650 Maxim style round gauges.........no LCD's. Pure analog. Not a microchip in sight.

    For you math majors, you do realize that a tach and speedo are both expressing to you the derivative of function; i.e. they are "doing" calculus for you......... :D

    I got em! I know I'm new here, but have been lurking since I got my xj650. I wasn't sure if it would run or not, so started stripping it down to cafe. Sure enough, I got it running but aren't going to use the gauges. No damage to them; a little green oxidation on the housings as you can see in the pics. if you want high res images, shoot me a pm or email with your email and I can send them over. If you're in the continental US, will $50 shipped work?
