My #1 mixture screw was seized, and now the head is stripped. Anyone know where I can get a replacement mixture screw?

Anything I should watch out for when drilling out the old one?

    That's an ugly job!
If you feelreally luck you can try........but.......

I'd rather find a good junk yard carb body and do a change out.

If you can't do that I'd suggest maybe a machinist to do it.

I have had some of the worst luck with small stripped screws like that!!

use a real small drill bit in a electric drill but dont put allot of down force on the drill, just use the weight of the drill and the bit do all the work and be carefull not to drill throught the screw, then use a screw extracter and remove the screw. just make sure when you drill the hole that it is dead centre of the screw dont drill at an angle so you mess the thread up on the carb body.

with care it can be done as far as re-placing the stripped screw i dont know where you would get one. but am sure there around.

For a used carb try Sport Wheels. They have a great selection. Give them a call.

    Try this first:
First soak the offending screw with penetrant. AeroKroil, if you can get it, or Liquid Wrench, etc. Let it sit overnight. Next, punch a center with a spring-loaded punch. Then start a tiny pilot hole; just enough to get a hole started. Then use an 1/8" LEFT HANDED drill bit, and in most cases, it'll walk it right out. If you don't feel up to the task, you can ship it to me and I'll have a stab at it.

To find that replacement screw, you might try searching in this forum. I remember that there was a post that listed a hardware site that had screws we could use in our carbs to replace "stripped" ones. Good Luck!
