I know just enough to be dangerous, but I am attempting to get a new headlight for my 1982 XJ750. I am trying to change the square headlight to a more modern round headlight. I have found one I like on ebay but it says I need to choose from 6volt or 12volt? Anyone know which one I should order? Thanks.

The 12 volt is what you need. There are no metric volts.

something like that is for a custom bike with 1/10 the wires that yours has
take yours apart and look at all the plugs and wires in there....thats why their so big, that one ain't going to work with your stock wires
look for a stock used one off of another bike that has more room in it
fill in your info so we know what you have, someone might know of one that will work
PS there's no such thing as metric volts, i'am just jack'en ya around

Thanks for the info... I have a 1982 XJ750. Just looking to replace the standard square headlight for a round one... I see the 650 seemed to have the round lights. I am looking for something more like that... anyone know where I could find one? Just think the square one looks so dated. What other info would I need to provide? Thanks allot for all this info!!!

You could get one from ebay. They also come up for sale here every now and again. Chacal probably has them.

You can use the one from your link. You'll just have to relocate alot of wires.

When you say relocate wires are you talking about moving the mess inside the current headlight box needing a new place to go? Or are you talking about a complete re-wire to make the headlight even work?

Finding a new place for all those wires to go. The light in your link was about 5 inches. The round one on my bike is about 7 inches and the factory wires are stuffed in there pretty good. That's the stock setup on mine.

Check out chacal's parts list and see what he has available for your specific bike. Then message him and ask him about compatibility. You are obviously gonna have to get the headlight houseing and all the mounting brackets and so on and so forth so it would be a really good idea to ask him. If he does not have any answers for you he may be able to point you in the right direction.
