Looking for a black gas tank to fit an '82 XJ 550.

My tank has a slow leak in the seam on the brake side. It was repaired with JB Weld (but leaked) and recently repaired again with Seal-All (and leaked). The most recent leak had me up at 2:00 in the morning after my wife smelled gas fumes coming through our furnace. If someone has any suggestions on how to fix this kind of a leak, I'd love to save the expense of a new tank.

    I'm near Seattle.

They make a 2 part epoxy for auto gas tanks (peramtex) that you might try. Clean the area(it must be clean), remove all paint, spray with brake clean then apply putty. turn tank so that it has time to dry without the gas dripping on it. I have used this on several cars (one I even used a screw to fill the hole the put the putty over it) lasted until I go ride of the car.

Thanks workingonit. I googled permatex and found all kinds of products, but I'm not finding any epoxy that says it will work on gas tanks. You have a specific name of the product or a link to it? I'd love to try it out.
