Well doing some work on the RJ this weekend (turns out I had the intake cam from my Seca Turbo in the RJ!) So I got that all fixed up, set the timing, checked the valve clearances and took it for a ride.

Did a plug chop at 5k and pulled the plugs and all were bone white = lean. I have an aftermarket 4-1 exhaust which is likely the culprit but I got to thinking what are the consequences of running lean? I know lean is bad - but bad how? Hopefully some of you experts can chime in.

lean is great until you burn a valve - or burn a hole in a piston. then it's bad.

edit: i said "great" but i guess i meant to say "ok" cuz if you are too lean, you will have flat spots in your powerband, and that's no fun either.
