Just cut the crusty old clips off and spliced slip-on connectors on the ends of the wires. Clamped them then soldered them. They aren't going anywhere. Trust me. The connectors I used slid perfectly over the fuse blades. Snugly and all the way. Used electrical tape to isolate the two sides from eachother, then gave the whole thing a few wraps to protect them and to isolate the fuses from each other.
With this set-up I can pull a fuse and slide a new one in by gripping the bulk of the tape winding and pulling the fuse out. I am trying to think of a way to further protect the fuses from the elements but this works.

Re: My take on fuse panel replacement/upgrade solutions

    Boo :(

Come on Chuckles it's $15 well spent....

Actually, when I bought my bike the PO had done exactly as you have done. I worked but looked terrible

    So does this:

But it's not a permanent fix either.

Electrical tape+heat=bad outcome. Your "impromptu" fuse holders are going to become all gooey with the heat of the summer and the heat of the bike, and start to come unravelled. You have a sticky, messy failure waiting to happen there.

If you want to upgrade to blades, get a kit from Len (or put together your own "kit" at the auto parts and Radio Shack) and do it right. What you have there is not a solution.

Hey I made a whole post that never posted here... anyway, Fitz and Rob... never thought about the heat of the motor and the summer humidity and heat and the affect it will have on the electrical tape. My headlight went out on me last night in the dark and that was a bad experience. The clips on the old panel were either breaking or were broken (like the headlight one) so this is what I came up with to fix the problem. But it will be temporary and renamed the thread to suit.
Actually, my ultimate plan was to have something exactly like secarob's set-up there.
