Throttle Cable Connection

Hello, this is my first post. I am trying to install my carbs again after cleaning them. How does the throttle cable connect to the carbs? When I connect the line to the spring/gaslever, there isn't enough slack to have the shield rest in the cable holder, and it is wide open when I pull it that much.

My assumption is that there is a cable that connects the gaslever to the holder, and the throttle cable from the handle joins it in the holder.

Did I lose this cable in my garage, or does it not even exist?

What kind of bike do you have?
Put your bike's year, model and mileage in your signature. This will keep people from asking this question all the time

Mikuni carbs usually have a little extension piece that connects to the throttle cam, and the cable connects to it. hitachi carbs don't have it. Are you sure you're not confusing the choke and throttle cables?

I have a '82 XJ550 with Mikuni carbs... thanks for the reply! Guess I have to look for a small cable somewhere in my garage :|

 

Where would be a good place to find a new one of these if I can't find my lost one?

 

Two others and myself have been going for my garage trying to look for it, but we all turned up empty. In other news though, the bike idles great
