Luggage rack for an 82 XJ650 Maxim?

    Does anyone know of a rack for this bike, one that extends out past the taillight would be best. Not looking for one with a backrest, I need as much horizontal support as possible & a backrest would eat into that.

    Model # would be great to know, I have no idea which racks will/wont fit this & the local Yamaha dealer is of zero help.

    Depending on the size needed? you could always build one out of some Aluminum flat stock and 1/2" square tubing. Make it as large(long and wide) as you need it.

    Yes, that's exactly what I've been considering doing. I don't always want it on but when I do a gig or go to a jam, it would be nice to have it there.

    I do have the plastic Yamaha luggage rack/box that goes with the bike but can't use that to help support the guitar, I tried... It's a quick bolt on arrangement.

    I used to heliarc, wish I still had the equipment...

    I have a rack coming off a 750 right now, the thing is STOUT. Not sure if it will fit your 650 - but I could measure it up for you. Have more pics that are higher res
