xs front end replacement?

can anyone tell me if the front end from a xs650 will fit into the yokes on my 85 model xj900? i dont have access to the forks yet, as i was going to buy them over the internet. the guy who im buying them from couldnt tell me much. he did say he had the yokes to go with them if i needed. but dont want to buy it all if its not going to fit.

He builds tubes to order (the only one I know of) for all makes and models except for inverted forks.
I have an 81 650 Max and the front end of an 80 750 XS and they are both 42mm. No changes were necessary. I hope this helps somewhat.
