    Hello Everyone!
Would anyone happen to have a picture of a stripped(don't get exited) down gas tank? Bare back with no paint on it. I'm asking because the person(wad) that had the bike before me took off the emblems. They filled in the spots with bondo or something like it. I'm asking because I'm sanding it down so that I can repaint it plaing the emblems in the correct spot. If you have a picture please post one...pretty please.

Hey guy, the XJ650 Maxim tanks have a horizontal bracket that's welded onto the tank (on each side) with two threaded holes at each end of the bracket. These threaded holes accept the two tiny screws that retain the emblems to the tank. The previous owner would have had to use ALOT of bondo to cover up those brackets, plus the tank would bulge out there because the brackets are actually slightly "wider" than the overall curved surface of the tank at that point. Perhaps your tank isn't from an XJ650 Maxim? The 750 tanks use self-adhesive emblems. BTW, I have a XJ650 tank on eBay right now as item #230052632661 with some pictures
of the tank. And, if you'll PM me with your real e-mail address, I'll email you some better, up-close (side view) pictures of an XJ650 Maxim tank.

Thanks for the reply...I'm keeping an eye on that tank. I just discovered that mine is leaking as well.

    Hey Chacal,

Received the tank today....I think it's really nice for the price I paid for it. Nice doing business with you. I wish everyone was as prompt as you on the shipping. I have yet to receive some side covers I ordered off E-Bay a month ago. The seller sent them to the wrong person! I'll be sure to put some good stuff on the feed back on E-bay once I get home. The mail man caught me as I was walking out the door.

Hello Gegan, that was fast delivery by USPS! Glad it made it in one piece, I always worry about shipping gas tanks. Hope it does well for you. P.S. I have a side cover off a 650 Maxim (black) if you don't get the ones from the other seller. I can't remember which side but I think it's the left side, part number 4H7-21711. I'll get pictures for you if you need them.
