I've searched all over, but can't find an answer.
Between the air filters I can see 2 .. umm things where a pipe should attach. But there's nothing on them. Should there be?

My bike is the maxim x btw if that helps

Do you have any photos? Are they brass? Which carbs are the attached to? Carbs are numbered 1-4, left-to-right when sitting on the bike.

Sounds like bowl vents. They usually have rubber lines attached to them that go to the bottom of the bike... Not hooked up to anything on the other end.

Not a huge deal if the hoses aren't attached, but if the carbs happen to overflow, gas will pour out all over the carbs and the engine instead of on the ground.

Hey, no question is a stupid question if you don't know the answer.

But from what you are describing they sound like vent pipes, just run a length of pipe from each outlet down to the bottom of the bike and you will be fine. one thing to note though, if these become blocked they will cause carb probs. I found this out the hard way on my old EX500 when one of these pipes had dragged on the exhaust and melted over....... ah well you live and learn!

Ahh, is that all they do? I think the long pipe is a wise plan :)

they are indeed the bowl vents....you can go to your local auto parts store and get some hose that fits and route to the bottom of the bike
