I posted this to the mailing list and did not get an answer and I have spent 5 hours looking on the XJ CD and in the archives and cannot find the answer.

What different REAR wheels will fit on my 81 seca 750? I seem to recall Nils or Dwayne (or someone) saying that an 850 or 900 would fit. But I cannot locate that conversation.

I have read all the archives on cramming different TIRES on the existing 120 rims and do not wish to reopen that can of worms. I wish to change the look of the bike and am tossing around the idea of swapping wheels front and/or rear. One archive said that the XJ650 had a 130 tire on it but I am not sure if that was the maxim or what they were talking about.

    Thanks!

All the 650, 750 Secas and Maxims, and most shaftie-Viragos should bolt up. The 920 Virago wheel is identical to the 650 and 750 Seca.

Maxims had wider 16" wheels, so that's probably not a good choice.

The 900 Seca will bolt up to your hub, but the conversion from your 750's drum brake to the 900's disc brake would be a lot of trouble for not much gain.

It shouldn't be much work to find a suitable wheel on either EBay or Craigslist.

Thanks for the reply. I have the old Xj CD but will buy the new one to see if the new parts compatibility will work. I made the front end look abysmal so I am wanting to destroy the rear end so it will match.

Thanks you are too kind. I am a saskatchewan hillbilly at heart and close up inspection will reveal some crudeness in my work, but I enjoy tinkering.

The bike is a 1981 Seca basket case.

Anyone ever try fitting the swingarm off of a v-max? Be kinda cool if you could get the shaft right - and get that 150 on there.

Ah! Apologies, the dim bulb just lit up. Sounds like a quick note to Snosheriff is in order. PM him, he'll let you know what is the latest on it.

    Spinalator,
I have a Maxim rear wheel/tire on my Seca chopper and it works perfect. It lowered the bike and made it....BAT-OUTA-HELL take off now!! The gas mileage drops a few, but nothing dramatic. It's a perfect swap and I can jack it up and change back to my original Seca wheel in about 15 minutes. The Seca wheel is a 18 or 19" (?) and the maxim wheel is a 16" with a 140 tire on, so it looks better with that wide tire onthe back. I can't wait to get photos posted to see the final results of my chop bobber thingy!! >PD<
