I'm thinking about fabricating a pair of Access Panels on both sides of my 900's Airbox.

Last night I was doing the Airbox Boot Fight and Re-installing the Boots after Cleaning the Carbs.
The Number-1 Boot wouldn't turn to let me get the front of the Boot aligned onto the Carb Horn.

Without even giving it a second thought ... I reached-in the Airbox to rotate the Boot from inside.

I forgot to take-off my Wristwatch!
I got stuck in there for over 25-minutes until I could get the Watch Band undone.
I was pretty close to needing help getting out of there.

    So, ...
To make it easier to do this job in the future ... I think I'm going to put two Access Ports on the side of my Airbox.

They'd be the type of Mod that should have been on the Bike to begin with.

that's a good idea- does the 900's airbox have sidecovers? maybe you could cut a hole 1/4 smaller than the perimeter of the sidecover, then make some extra holes in the sidecover with self tapping screws, and put some window- foam door strip sealer on the covers... no one would ever know...

I would have thought it would be far easier to just take off your watch...

My kids hands are much smaller than mine, I recruit them for jobs like that.

    That's the funny part.
Normally, the first thing I do when I go into the garage is take-off my watch and ring.
But, I wasn't planning on "Working". I just went down to put a few things away and listen to Letterman's monologue.

Then I picked-up the Airbox Clamp screw.
Then, one thing led to another and the Boot needed to be moved to get lined-up ...
And, the next thing you know I have my hand stuck in the Airibox and I don't know if I should yell for help or fight it out.

The story has a happy ending.
I didn't modify the Airbox to cut a access hole in it, yet
    Probably won't.

That's what you get for listening to that idiot Letterman.

    Rick, here's a 100mm x 100mm push in plastic plug from a trailer company.
